New Progress System

After a lot of thought we’ve come to the conclusion that the progress system had to be changed to something that didn’t reveal to the reader what the next page looked like, so we came to this conclusion. I think in the end it is a better method.

There is one problem with it in Internet Explorer, but it doesn’t really hurt readability. The problem resides in the fact that some idiot over at Microsoft didn’t learn elementary mathematics and therefore couldn’t read percentages. The bar will be somewhere along the lines of 75% wide rather than 25% as it should be at the time of this writing. I can’t help Microsoft’s lack of understanding of elementary mathematics. People usually circumvent the problem by having their server side programming language generate an image that is 25% wide (you see stuff like this in polls), but I’m not going to go that far when Internet Explorer should view it correctly to begin with.

Some might be wondering what the Coloring Characters means. They are the names of the stages the page goes through in its production. Here’s a list of them:

The corresponding percentages will vary from page to page due to the fact the amount of work in each stage isn’t equal on each page. If a page has more background detail in it then the percentage done before I get to the Background Painting stage would be lower than on another page that doesn’t have much background detail. I plan to add this to the FAQ section of the website along with a description of what each stage is.

As you can see the page is being worked on. It is still a bit stunted in production because of other commitments, but it will be completed sometime this century I promise.
